Four Patch Block

Don’t let the simplicity of this basic quilt block fool you. Not only does it show up as a component in many other quilt block patterns, but it will also allow your fabric choices to shine when it is the only block used in a quilt. Size it up or size it down to suit your needs.
Instructions:
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Read through entire pattern before beginning project. Use ¼” seam allowances with fabric right sides together. Pressing arrows are included with illustrations. Basic quilt making supplies are assumed. Fabric requirements include extra yardage for shrinkage and insurance.
FABRIC:
Fabric A: 1 (8″ x 14″) light print or solid
Fabric B: 1 (8″ x 14″) dark print or solid
CUTTING:
• Fabric A: From strip, cut:
2 squares, 6½” x 6½”
• Fabric B: From strip, cut:
2 squares, 6½” x 6½”
Block Assembly:
Lay out (2) Fabric A 6½” squares and (2) Fabric B 6½” squares as shown in Diagram 1. Sew squares together into rows. Sew the rows together to make Four Patch Block.
