Worldwide Quilting

Chateau

Just as quilting is a global art, the Quilt Street neighborhood encompasses the entire Earth. With our Worldwide Quilting regular feature articles, our goal is to introduce you to quilting neighbors you may not have met yet and to let you know about quilt events near and far (depending on where you live).

Long before quilt patterns were published widely, and certainly very long before the Internet made information available in the blink of an eye, quilting was a communal art and craft. Techniques, patterns, and stories were handed down in families from one generation to the next and amongst community members when they got together for quilting bees. Technology allows us to expand our idea of community and to draw inspiration from quilters around the world.
