SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Read through entire pattern before beginning project. Use ¼” seam allowances with fabric right sides together. Pressing arrows are included with illustrations. Basic quiltmaking supplies are assumed. Fabric requirements include extra yardage for shrinkage and insurance. If working with directional prints or if you want a little extra for insurance, you may want to begin with more fabric than called for.
HST = half-square triangle
FABRIC:
Fabric A: (1) 3½” x 30″ strip red fabric
Fabric B: (1) 5½” x 23″ strip white fabric
CUTTING:
From Fabric A, cut:
• (4) 2⅞” x 2⅞” squares. Cut squares in half diagonally to
make (8) HSTs.
• (4) 2½” x 4½” rectangles
From Fabric B, cut:
• (2) 4⅞” x 4⅞” squares. Cut squares in half diagonally to
make (4) HSTs.
• (5) 2½” x 2½” squares
Block Assembly:
Referring to Diagram 1, sew (1) Fabric A HST to bottom edge of (1) Fabric B 2½” square; press. Sew another Fabric A HST to right edge of the same Fabric B square to make pieced triangle.
Referring to Diagram 2, sew (1) Fabric B HST to pieced triangle to make Corner Unit. Make 4.

Paying attention to orientation, lay out (4) Corner Units, (4) Fabric A 2½” x 4½” rectangles, and (1) Fabric B 2½” square as shown in Diagram 3. Sew into rows. Sew rows together to make French Patchwork Block.
