Tam’s Patch Block
DIFFICULTY LEVEL ‣ BEGINNER
FINISHED BLOCK SIZE: 10″ x 10″
Tam is the Scottish form of the Aramaic name Thomas, which translates to “twin.” Perhaps that is why the halves of the block are mirror images of each other! Tam was used as both a nickname and a surname among the Scots. Thomas is also the name of one of the 12 disciples in the Bible, which has inspired many quiltmakers and variations all over the world. Interestingly, Tâm is a common Vietnamese name given to both females and males, which translates to “heart” or “soul.” Whether you want to make a quilt for a twin or a Thomas, Tommy, Tâm, or Tammy, this block is an easy one to launch your project.
